Sea Farm City is a family business that goes back to our budding friendship at art school in the early 00’s. Matt’s and my love for having shows together grew from a common interest in bringing contemporary art to a down-to-earth audience. The phrase we used at the time was “I mean, I still want my mom to like it!” Friendship continued, collaboration continued, and POOF we’ve been married for 11 years.
The family business has taken many forms: most recently at our bread and butter creative company MNK Studio (M and K). Things there have always developed through hard work and a one-thing-leads-to-another mentality until this past year [enter Clementine stage left.] Born March 4, 2018, our new life throttled us forward, as so many people said it would, and we really had to take control of our business for our livelihood. We’re working just as hard as ever and then some, but we’re dedicated for the long haul.
Sea Farm City has been bubbling on a back burner, but we haven’t let the flame burn out. We are beginning to rev things back up. We’re looking for new artists, new editions, and fun projects. Our last show was the ACLU benefit, the result of a shift in focus into a meaningful reaching out for community and to community. Keep your eyes and ears open for some upcoming blogposts and new work soon.
Let’s look for a common thread! Reach out to us if you’ve got something to share.
